A Night in Vegas

Rockland County's non-profit education support.

The REACH Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that raises funds to support innovative educational programs for students and the community at large.  In addition to pursuing community grants from various government and local corporations to support our efforts, the REACH Foundation raises money annually through a benefit evening, this year’s event titled “A NIGHT IN VEGAS.”

This year’s gala will take place on February 4, 2012, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Montebello, New York beginning at 7:00pm in the ballroom.  To bring together our schools and the Ramapo Central community, the Reach Foundation will be hosting “A NIGHT IN VEGAS” evening which includes an  open bar, sumptuous buffet and $100 in gaming allowance.  Participants will enjoy playing Blackjack, Roulette and Craps for the opportunity to win a variety of fabulous prizes.  In past years, prizing has included flat screen tv’s, small appliances, trips and tickets to Broadway and local sporting events.

One hundred percent of the net proceeds of this evening benefit innovative programs within the district via grants.  These grants have been distributed throughout the Ramapo Central School District bi-annually since 2006 based on criteria including: educational value, innovation or creativity of request, number of students who will be directly affected by award, fulfillment of unmet need(s), if the award has value as a reusable resource, and if it encourages volunteer service.  Awards cover such diverse needs as guest lecturers and artists, the purchase of computer software and hardware to supplement current curriculum, as well as contributions towards travel and transportation costs.  Many  grant ‘pilot’ programs have gone on to become mainstays within district.
