Are You Fit?

What is the definition of fit?

Everyone has their own definition of fitness. To some it is appearance, to others it is how long you can run. It is safe to say that peoples definitions of fitness pertains to the individuals goals. However, there are several key components to fitness, they are as follows; muscular endurance, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and body composition. Most people specialize in one or two components, however, it is rare to find someone who excels in all aspects of fitness. For instance, a body builder may excel in muscular strength and body composition, yet lack flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. A marathon runner will have an ample amount of cardiovascular endurance and flexibility, yet, lack in muscular strength. So where does this leave us? As we all age our goals and ideals of what fit is changes. So we must always come back to the principals of fitness in order to ensure that as we become older maintaining wellness and health is the goal.
