When my wife and I first met Alain Eigenmann, maybe twenty years ago or so, it was when he and his compatriots from France needed to rent a car. Hardly speaking English and no credit card in sight, this group of four; 2 chefs, 1 Maitre’D and one unknown, would drive off happy in their...
A Soup, A Chair, A Chicken, & A Carpet
posted by Gary Blankfort
Well, all of the above and more is on hand at the famous ABC Carpet & Furniture Warehouse, Bronx River Ave, Bronx, NY. If the truth must be told, I’d drive there for the most amazing bowl of home made chicken soup ever served in a massive furniture and carpet store, or maybe even in the bronx. Want more? Also try their BLTs, awesome. Now onto the furniture. This is it folks, this IS the place! I can’t tell you how many football fields would fit into this warehouse, crammed with furniture of all varieties, both antique and new…items from the world over. Some of this stuff starts out at one price and is...

In the very beginning, I went through the motions (poses) at times feeling lost, few times as a pretzel...

Local Doctor Should Be Applauded

I have enjoyed knowing Dr. Louis Martorella for many years, as a friend and as my wife’s Ob-gyn. His physician skills and “bed side manner” have been nothing short of outstanding, according to my wife (I wouldn’t know from actual experience). On the other hand as a friend, I have always found him to be both brilliant and charming; except for his sometimes poor taste in cars, his music prowess and dining rhetoric have always been both entertaining and right on. He was, is, and always will be, a respected doctor in this community as well as a contributing citizen. It is no wonder, that the slightest...
