The UFT has become way too powerful and has only its members best interest at heart. The Union will not agree on anything that evaluates their teachers or be made to do anything it doesn't want to. If the governor needs to use strong arm tactics and ultimatums to get the Union to comply then so be it. It's time to let them know that they are not the be all end all in education in New York and that the students they are supposed to serve are more important than the teachers. More like a guy trying to improve an outdated system as quickly as possible, for the sake of the children, who are effected for better or worse every day, and in the only time he is guaranteed to have influence...it's just two years until the next election.
